LOS SOCIOHUMANISTAS TAMBIÉN INVESTIGAN

Abstract

RESUMEN: Aún cuando en la Universidad de Oriente ha predominado la investigación científica básica y tecnológica, también se ha realizado esta importante función universitaria en ciencias sociales y humanidades. En este ensayo se presenta una visión aproximada de esta producción investigativa sociohumanista en un orden de ideas que contiene una revisión del pensamiento del Rector Luis Manuel Peñalver, una reflexión sobre lo concebido y lo realizado, una síntesis de los resultados publicados, y algunas apreciaciones con miras al futuro. El trabajo que se expone consiste en una revisión literaria de algunos materiales conservados en la Unidad de Documentación e Investigación Histórica, de la Escuela de Ciencias Sociales, y aún cuando no representan la mayoría de lo editado, permiten reconstruir un cuadro demostrativo del valioso aporte sociohumanista a la nvestigación en nuestra Universidad. ABSTRACT: Although basic science and technology research has always prevailed at Universidad de Oriente, investigation within the social sciences and the humanities has also been carried out at our campus. This essay submits a retrospect on our faculty's socio-humanistic production through a series of ideas containing a review of Rector Luis Manuel Peñalver's tenet, a reflection on what has been forrnulated and done, an outline ofthe publications, and sorne speculations with regards to the future. The present work comprises a literary review of sorne of the materials preserved in the Archives for Historical Documentation and Research of the School of Social Sciences, and even though it does not depict most ofwhat has been published, it provides for an illustrative representation of the valuable socio-humanistic contribution to research at our university.
