CUATRO NUEVOS REGISTROS DE ESPECIES DEL GÉNERO NEOCALLICHIRUS (CRUSTACEA: DECAPODA: CALLIANASSIDAE) PARA AGUAS VENEZOLANAS

Abstract

RESUMEN: Los crustáceos thalassinideos constituyen un importante grupo de la endofauna béntica ampliamente distribuido en las costas venezolanas, hasta el presente se conocen 18 especies para el nororiente venezolano. Durante los años 1997-1998 se capturaron 43 especímenes del género Neocallichirus con la ayuda de una bomba “yabby” en diferentes localidades de las costas norte y sur del golfo de Cariaco (10°30 ́N, 64°00 ́W). Se registra por vez primera la presencia, en aguas venezolanas de las especies N. rathbunae (SCHMITT, 1935), N. grandimana (GIBBES, 1850), N. nickellae MANNING, 1993 y N. cacahuate FELDER & MANNING, 1995. Se incluye una clave de identificación para todas las especies del género conocidas en Venezuela. ABSTRACT: Thalassinidean crustacea constitutes an important group of the endobentic fauna, largely distributed on Venezuelan coasts. A total of 18 species are presently known from northeastern Venezuela. During the years 1997-1998, 43 specimens of the genus Neocallichirus were collected with a yabby pump in different localities along the northern and southern coasts of the gulf of Cariaco (10°30 ̈N, 64°00 ̈W). The species N. rathbunae (SCHMITT, 1935), N. grandimana (GIBBES, 1850), N. nickellae MANNING, 1993 and N. cacahuate FELDER & MANNING, 1995 are here recorded for the first time in Venezuelan waters. A key for all known species of the genus in Venezuela is included.
