EL ADVERBIO EN –MENTE EN EL ESPAÑOL DE VENEZUELA

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente artículo ofrece algunos datos descriptivos de un proyecto de investigación mayor sobre los adverbios en –mente en el español de Venezuela. Específi camente se intenta describir, los valores funcionales de estas unidades. Como metodología se siguen los criterios propios de una investigación descriptiva. Para ello, se seleccionan aleatoriamente 35 enunciados ‘tipos’, extraídos de una muestra de 200 enunciados del proyecto de investigación, formada a partir de diversos corpus del habla venezolana. Con base en los postulados de la gramática funcional del español, de tradición alarquiana, se analizan los valores semánticos y el esquema sintáctico de aditamento, de atributo, incidental y de adyacente (de adjetivos y de otro adverbio) de estas unidades, considerando el esquema del enunciado y el contexto situacional de su ocurrencia. Según los datos analizados, se aprecian en estas unidades, más allá de sus contenidos nocionales modales propios, valores temporales, de cuantifi cación y valores discursivos como evaluadores, modalizadores, de ámbitos o puntos de vista y meta-comunicativos. Del análisis realizado, se concluye que el esquema oracional aplicado al estudio de estas unidades es insufi ciente para dar cuenta de los múltiples y variados valores funcionales del adverbio en –mente, de allí la importancia de considerar para ello el plano de la enunciación. ABSTRACT: This research paper offers some descriptive data of a broader research project on adverbs ending in –mente, in the Spanish languaje spoken in Venezuela. More specifi cally, the goal is to describe the functional values of these units. From a methodological point of view, descriptive investigation criteria were used. For this purpose, 35 “typical” utterances were selected at random from a sample of 200 utterances of the research project, from various corpora of Venezuelan speech. On the basis of the postulates of the functional-grammar of Spanish, of Alarquian tradition, the paper analyzes the semantic values and the syntactic schema of attachment, attribute, incidence and adjacency (of adjectives and of another adverb) of these units, taking into account the utterance structure and the situational context of their occurrence. According to the analyzed data, these units display, beyond their own notional modal contents, temporal, quantifying, and discourse values as evaluators, modalizers of scope or points of view, as well as metacommunicative ones. From this analysis, the conclusion is that the sentence schema applied to study these units is insuffi cient to acknowledge the multiple and varied functional values of adverbs ending in -mente, hence the importance of considering the utterance level for that purpose.
