ANÁLISIS VARIMAX DE FACTORES QUE INFLUYEN EN LA EXISTENCIA DE LOS NIÑOS DE LA CALLE SEGÚN LA OPINIÓN PÚBLICA

Abstract

RESUMEN: El objetivo de esta investigación es jerarquizar entre las causas internas y externas que inciden en el problema de los niños de la calle vistos por la comunidad y si la percepción de la mujer es igual o no a la del hombre. El estudio es de carácter inferencial, de campo y de corte transversal. Se aplicó un cuestionario a 602 personas en las 4 principales ciudades del estado Anzoátegui, Venezuela, en agosto del 2005. Se utilizó el análisis de componentes principales por el procedimiento Varimax de factores rotados. Los resultados sugieren que las causas externas al núcleo familiar, tales como desempleo, explotación de menores, migración del campo, entre otras prevalecen sobre las internas. Las mujeres acentúan más esta afirmación. ABSTRATC: This paper reports on a field, cross-sectional, and inferential study aiming at sorting out the internal and external causes for the proliferation of street children as seen by the community, and at ascertaining whether perception of the problem by women is similar to that of men. Six hundred and two people were given a questionnaire in the four main cities of the state of Anzoátegui, Venezuela, in August 2005. Their responses were assessed using a principal component analysis by Varimax factor rotation. The results suggest that causes external to the family setting, such as unemployment, exploitation of minors, and migration from the countryside, among others, prevail over the internal causes of the problem, an assertion which is mostly adhered to by women.
